richard st clair book.jpgFebruary 8, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - "For nearly 20 years, Pelham painter and writer Richard St. Clair has spent a month every summer traveling to biker rallies across the country on his 1961 Harley Davidson," Massachusetts' Amherst Bulletin writes. "In a new book, he shares the view from the road." St. Clair is a 1966 graduate of DePauw University. His book, love@thespeedoffear, has just been released.

St. Clair's 300-page novel follows the fate of Matt Jones, who the author describes as a "middle age, down-but-not-out biker" as he sets out on a cross-country trip looking for freedom and happiness. "This is the story of a man trying to find his dream when everything is moving so fast he hardly has time to figure out what his dream is, much less what's necessary to get it," St. Clair says. "Everybody talks about how they want their dreams to come true. In this book it actually starts to happen, and it's rather terrifying -- because change implies that your old world will start crumbling around you."

Copies of love@thespeedoffear are available through the author, who can be contacted by sending an e-mail here.
