American Chemical Society President William Carroll '73 Speaks at Baylor University

February 8, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - In a speech delivered yesterday at Baylor University, American Chemical Society President William F. Carroll Jr., spoke about "ACS’s 2005 theme, 'opportunity,' and the agenda during his year as president," notes a story posted at Baylor's Web site. Dr. Carroll is vice president of Occidental Chemical Corporation and a 1973 graduate of DePauw University.

"Recognizing that the 'chemistry enterprise' has changed significantly over the last several years, Carroll plans to develop positive messages about chemistry and improve chemistry’s image as a career choice," the article continues. "He also expressed concern about chemistry education. 'I believe that those who love chemistry make better teachers; as a result, I would like to see more chemists teaching,' he said."
