Tigers' win streak snapped at Millsaps

February 13, 2005, Jackson, Miss. - DePauw's seven-game win streak came to an end at Millsaps as the Majors defeated the Tigers 64-57. The Tigers dropped to 19-4 overall and 10-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, while Millsaps improved to 9-12 overall and 5-7 in the conference.
The Tigers led early before the Majors gained as much as a six-point lead on a couple of occasions. DePauw closed the half with six straight points to tie the contest at 31-31.
Millsaps opened the second half by scoring the first five points on the way to a 14-3 run that gave it a 45-34 advantage. The Majors still led by 11 at 51-40 on Miranda Rosar's layup with 8:32 remaining. Kalei Lowes' three-pointer with 6:29 remaining capped a 6-0 run and closed Millsaps' lead to 51-46.
DePauw was within foura t 59-55 on Caitlin McGonigal's layup with 1:27 left. Millsaps made just two of its next six free throw attempts, but the Tigers could get no closer than six the rest of the way.
Sarah Zondor was DePauw's lone double-digit scorer with 10 points and Lindsay Houin grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. Jillian Compton paced Millsaps with 24 with Rosar adding 17 and Sheena Gardner 11.
The Tigers shot just 38 percent for the game including just 27.6 percent in the second half, while Millsaps connected on 47.5 percent for the game and 50 percent in the first half.
DePauw hosts league-leading Trinity on Friday at 6 p.m. with the top seed in the SCAC tournament at stake for each team.Back
