April 11, 2005

DSC_0537.jpgApril 11, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - "A doubleheader split proved almost as fun as a sweep for DePauw's baseball team Saturday afternoon," begins a story in Indiana's Terre Haute Tribune-Star. "Even though the Tigers from Greencastle lost to Rose-Hulman 4-1 in the first game, a 7-5 triumph in the second game enabled them to clinch the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's Eastern Division title. DePauw (23-10 overall) is 12-3 in the conference, while second-place Rose (16-11) is 9-4 in the SCAC."

The article quotes Matt Walker, DePauw baseball coach and 1999 graduate of the University as saying, "It feels great. It's something when we sit down at the beginning of the year, that's one of our goals. I'm proud of our guys. They hung in there. We played a very, very good team today."
