DePauw Women Fourth Heading Into Final Round of NCAA Golf Tournament; Men Finish 14th

murtaugh2005ncaa.jpgMay 12, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - "Three rounds are in the books at the 2005 NCAA Division III Women's Golf National Championships," and DePauw University is fourth with a total of 1009, according to a story just posted at NCAA Sports.com. Methodist, winner of seven straight national championships, currently leads the way with a total team score of 952. Individually, DePauw's Ali Murtaugh (seen at left in a photo taken today) is tied for 15th with a three-day score of 250; her teammate Sarah Gates is tied for 17th with 251.  The tournament is being played in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Meanwhile, DePauw's men's golf team finished 14th in the men's championships, which concluded this afternoon in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.  The Tigers posted a four-round total of 1256.  Guilford College won the Division III championship with a total score of 1174.  DePauw's Jay Burkhardt tied for 12th among individuals with a four-day total of 299.
