Andrew Buroker '84 Elected National Chairman of American Heart Association

June 4, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - Andrew B. Buroker, a partner in the Indianapolis-based law firm of Krieg DeVault LLP and 1984 graduate of DePauw University, has been elected to serve as the national chairman of the American Heart Association. Elected by the Association's delegate assembly, Buroker's three year term begins with a one year term as chair-elect on July 1, 2005, one year serving as chairman from July 1, 2006 to 2007, and a final year as immediate past chairman.

In addition to serving as the national chairman of the AHA, Buroker will serve as the development coordinator for the American Heart Association and as a member of the national administrative cabinet, corporate operations coordinating committee and advisory coordinating committee. He is also a board member of the Association's Greater Midwest Affiliate and recently served as chairman of the national corporate operations coordinating committee and the advocacy coordinating committee. He has been a member of the AHA heart association logo.gifnational board of directors and the national administrative cabinet since 2002. 

In April of 2000, Andy Buroker was listed in the Indianapolis Business Journal as one of "40 under Forty" young leaders in Indianapolis, and received the Mayor's Community Service Award from Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson in 2002. He is a 1995 graduate of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership series. Buroker also holds a degree from the Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington, and serves as a member of the Law School's Alumni Board.

Before his current role at Krieg DeVault LLP, Buroker worked for U.S. Senator Dan Quayle (R-Ind.) as executive political assistant, deputy finance director and field representative. In October 2001, he was admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States as a bar member. Buroker is chairman of Krieg DeVault's Real Estate and Environmental practice group and its recruiting committee.
