School System Names Nancy Netherland Becker '73 Director of Special Education

June 9, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - Nancy Netherland Becker, a 1973 graduate of DePauw University, has been appointed director of special education for Indiana's Smith-Green Community School system. "Becker will be one of three directors overseeing the decentralization of the cooperative, and comes to the job with more than 25 years of professional experience in the special education field, 22 of which were spent with SGCS as a school psychologist," notes a story in the Post & Mail of Columbia City, Indiana.

Last year, Becker served as assistant director of the Northeast Indiana Special Education Cooperative. "She holds a master's degree in school psychology from Ball State University and received a director of special education license from BSU in 2003. She did her undergraduate work at DePauw University, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa," the newspaper article states. "David Martin, SGCS superintendent, said he was impressed with Becker's past work, and thatDePauw Logo.jpg she was an excellent choice for the director's position."
