"Talented" DePauw Football Team Opens 2005 Season Saturday
August 31, 2005
August 31, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - "[Tim] Rogers takes over the reins at DePauw after last year's coach, Bill Lynch, joined Terry Hoeppner's staff at Indiana University," notes an Indianapolis Star preview of DePauw University's football season, which opens Saturday. "Rogers, offensive coordinator at Cornell last year, inherits a talented team. [Ross] Wiethoff, the team's leading passer and rusher last season, accounted for 18 touchdowns and more than 2,100 yards."
The newspaper lists senior quarterback Wiethoff, juniors Greg Sylvester (defensive back) and Eric Lewis (linebacker), and sophomore running back Jeremiah Marks as the Tigers' "players to watch." You can access the item at the Star's Web site. Another article in today's paper states, "Of Indiana's 20 college football programs, just six finished above .500 last year: DePauw, Hanover, Purdue, St. Francis, St. Joseph's and Wabash."
DePauw opens its 2005 season this Saturday, September 3, at home versus Wesley (Delaware) College, Community Day.
