Newspaper Details Junior's Summer Fellowship with Indiana's Secretary of State
September 1, 2005
September 1, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - "Courtney's hard work, leadership, and dedication during the Fellowship Program provided a great service to my office as well as to the people of Indiana," Secretary of State Todd Rokita says of Courtney Figg. A DePauw University junior, Figg spent a summer-long fellowship working for Rokita's office. "I applaud her commitment to become more involved in public service, and I wish her continued success in her academics and beyond," Rokita is quoted in a story published in Indiana's Linton Daily Citizen.
The newspaper notes, "Figg's previous government experience includes internships with U.S Rep. John Hostettler and U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar... Figg, a junior at DePauw University, is working toward degrees in English literature and political science and plans to attend law school after graduation from DePauw. In addition, she serves as an officer in her sorority and the College Republicans. She is also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
"The experience I have gained from the Secretary of State's Fellowship Program cannot be measured," Figg tells the Daily Citizen. "Whether working with entrepreneurs as they registered their business in the Business Services Division or learning how the Securities Division protects Indiana investors, each part of the Fellowship has taught me valuable lessons. I am honored to have been given the chance to work with Secretary Rokita and for the people of Indiana."
