Hertel named SCAC co-Defensive Player of the Week
October 18, 2005October 18, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw senior defensive end Dustin Hertel has been selected as Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference co-Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in DePauw's 7-3 win over Rhodes. He shared the honor with Paul Spreen of Rose-Hulman for his third such honor in his DePauw career. Hertel had 12 total tackles (10 solo), including three tackles for losses of 18 yards and a sack for nine yards in the Tigers' win. He also had a quarterback hurry that led to an interception and intercepted the first pass of his career. The DePauw defense held Rhodes to just 148 yards of total offense (2.3 yards per play) and a pass efficiency rating of 39.18.
For the season, Hertel has 26 tackles and two sacks and his 7.5 tackles for loss is third-best in the SCAC.
DePauw, 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the SCAC, hosts Millsaps on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
