Rev. Vanable H. Moody II '02 Named Executive Pastor of Alabama Church

Moody II has joined the staff at the 3,000-member Sardis Baptist Church as executive pastor," begins an item in today's edition of Alabama's Birmingham News. The story notes that "Moody received his bachelor's degree in philosophy and religion from DePauw University" in 2002 and also holds a master of divinity degree from the Interdenominational Theological Center.

The newspaper adds that Rev. Moody "was previously executive pastor at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Fort Lauderdale and a co-pastor at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church in Atlanta from 1999 to 2002. He founded Luke 12:48, an independent counsulting firm, in Atlanta... The Rev. Samuel P. Pettagrue Jr., senior pastor of Sardis Baptist for 35 years, has announced he plans to retire in June 2006 and has recommended Moody as his successor."
