DePauw drops to 1-1 following loss in Washington Tipoff title game

November 19, 2005, St. Louis, Mo. - The Tigers, ranked 19th in the coaches' poll and 22nd by D3hoops.com, dropped to 1-1 on the season following a 72-61 loss to Washington, Mo. (6th coaches' poll, 14th D3hoops.com) in the Washington University Tipoff Tournament title game.
The teams battled through a tight first half with the Bears taking a 41-35 halftime advantage. DePauw was still within six at 49-43 before the hosts went on a 7-2 run to extend the margin to 56-45 with just over 10 minutes left. Kalei Lowes and Liz Bondi hit buckets to pull the Tigers to within seven, but Washington scored the next seven to put the game away.
DePauw shot just 30 percent from the floor and just 23 percent in the second half, while the Bears connected on 41 percent from the floor and only 31 percent in the second half.
Bondi and Suzy Doughty each scored 11 to lead DePauw, while Bridget Bailey grabbed 11 rebounds and Lindsay Houin followed with 10 boards. Bondi recorded four steals.
Rebecca Parker led the Bears with 17 points with Kelly Manning adding 16 and Danielle Beehler 14. Beehler grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds with Parker hauling down 10. Sarah Schell dished out five assists, while Parker added four along with four blocked shots.
Washington outrebounded the Tigers 54-48, but the Tigers grabbed 26 on the offensive glass.
