The 5th Annual Kevin Powell Holiday Party will also serve as a Hurricane Katrina benefit for those still in need. It will take place at CROBAR, located at 530 West 28th Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues in Manhattan.

Powell is an author and former cast member of MTV's Real World. Garnes, a writer and activist, and Johnson, an actor, launched the national tour "From Afros to Shelltoes: Art, Action, and Conversation," earlier this year.

Honorary chairpersons for Monday's event include Spike Lee, Wynton Marsalis, Gloria Steinem, Chuck D and Cornel West.

Admission to the party is free, but guests are asked to bring non-perishable items that will be donated to the Center For Life, a Katrina relief site in Lafayette, Louisiana that is currently servicing about 8,000 evacuees.
