Tigers complete Grand Canyon sweep with win over William Paterson

December 31, 2005, Phoenix, Ariz. - The 10th-ranked women's basketball team improved to 12-1 on the season with an 87-56 win over William Paterson in its final game at the Grand Canyon Classic. The win was the Tigers' 11th straight as DePauw is off to the best start in school history.

DePauw scored the game's first 11 points on the way to a 39-24 halftime advantage. The Tigers later extended the lead to as many as 33 in the second half.

Liz Bondi led the Tigers with a career-high 31 points, while Gwen Haehl added 11 and Lindsay Houin finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Bondi and Houin were named to the all-tournament team. Janelle Fabor paced the Pioneers with 19 points wiht Luci Custis adding 11 points.

The Tigers shot 46.8 percent from the floor and held William Paterson to just 33.8 percent for the contest. DePauw outrebounded the Pioneers 49-35.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, January 7, when it travels to Rose-Hulman for a 6 p.m. contest.
