Bondi shares SCAC honors

DSC_7894.jpgJanuary 2, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw senior forward Liz Bondi has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for the second time this season.

For the second time this season, Bondi shared the honor with Oglethorpe's Katie Kulavic as each also earned the honor in week two.

Bondi led the Tigers to a 4-0 mark over the holiday break, including three wins at the Grand Canyon Classic in Phoenix, Ariz. She averaged 22.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in Phoenix as DePauw posted victories over Lewis & Clark, Viterbo and William Paterson. Bondi, and teammate Lindsay Houin, were named to the all-torunament team.

Bondi scored a career-high 31 points in the 87-56 win over William Paterson and two nights earlier, she posted a career-high 13 rebounds in the 84-33 win over Viterbo.

She shot 65.1% (28-43) from the field over the four-game span and was a perfect 17 of 17 from the charity stripe. For the season, Bondi is averaging 15.8 points (seventh in the SCAC) and 7.2 rebounds per game (eighth in the SCAC) and is shooting 53.8% from the field (seventh in the SCAC).

DePauw is off to its best start (12-1) in school history and has won 11 straight. The Tigers travel to Terre Haute on Saturday, January 7, to face Rose-Hulman in a 6 p.m. contest.
