Women Advance to NCAA's 'Sweet 16' With 27th Consecutive Victory

DSC_8409.jpgMarch 4, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw University's women's basketball team rolled to a record 27th consecutive victory tonight, advancing to the "sweet 16" of the NCAA Division III tournament with an 86-58 victory over Maryville College of Tennessee.  Four Tigers scored in double figures, led by Liz Bondi, who had 19 points and 13 rebounds in front of a home crowd at DePauw's Lilly Center.  DePauw shot a blistering 56.3% from the field, and 57.1% from three-point range.

DePauw (28-1), which earned a first-round bye, now moves on to the sectionals, March 10-11, to face Wheaton College, which defeated Maryville (Mo.) tonight. 75-68. The site of the game will be determined Sunday.
