Three Teams Begin NCAA Tournament Play

gates05.jpgMay 5, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - "The state of Indiana will be well represented at next week's NCAA Division III women's golf championship," reports the Indianapolis Star, adding, "The DePauw team earned its fifth consecutive invitation to the nationals and seeks to improve on third-place finishes over the past three seasons. The Tigers won their fifth straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference title last week."

The column by Pat McKee continues, "Junior Sarah Gates, a Bloomington South graduate, earned SCAC medalist honors for the third consecutive year. Senior Lisa Chambers of Carmel, sophomore Ali Murtaugh of Valparaiso, sophomore Kristen Kriegshauser and senior Lauren Brummett complete the Tigers'top five."kuresman050705.jpg

Later, McKee writes of the women's tennis team, "Sixth-ranked DePauw will host an NCAA Division III team tennis regional Friday and Saturday. Liz Bondi and Amrita Padda also earned spots in the singles and doubles national tourneys, while Erin Andrade (Noblesville) and Connie Shim (Homestead) landed a doubles berth."

In another column on men's tennis, Kristen Leigh Porter reports, "No. 12 DePauw is participating in its eighth consecutive NCAA Division III Championships. The Tigers host Denison on Saturday in the first round."
