Sixth-ranked Tigers advance to NCAA Quarterfinals after 5-0 win over Denison
May 6, 2006May 6, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - Sixth-ranked DePauw advanced to the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Quarterfinals for the second time in school history following a 5-0 win over 16th-ranked Denison. DePauw improved to 24-1 and competes in the Division III Quarterfinals at the University of California, Santa Cruz, beginning May 17. Denison finished its season at 18-7. The Tigers won all three doubles matches as Liz Bondi and Amrita Padda defeated Kendra Murray and Erin Coughlin by an 8-3 score at number one, while Erin Andrade and Connie Shim beat Sarah Mitchiner and Carly Newman by an 8-4 count at the number two slot. Alex Nelson and Betsey Flanzer won at number three over Whitney Block and Erin Gorsich by an 8-2 score. In singles play, Bondi won at number one by a 6-4, 6-1 score over Murray, while Shim wrapped up the match at number six by a 6-1, 6-3 score over Gorsich.
