Tom Noonan '84 Named Men's Soccer Coach at Lincoln Land Community College

May 26, 2006

May 26, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - Tom Noonan, a 1984 graduate of DePauw University, has been appointed men's soccer coach at Lincoln Land Community College. "Noonan, the former Springfield College in Illinois men's coach, succeeds Oscar Lambdin," reports the Springfield Journal-Register. "With Tom's experience at the junior college level and the success he enjoyed at SCI, he was the right person for our program," LLCC athletic director Ron Riggle tells the newspaper.

"Noonan, 44, a Springfield High School and DePauw University graduate, compiled a 63-36-10 record at SCI from 1994-1998," writes Ron Dickerson. "He led the student park.jpgBulldogs to four NJCAA Region 24 titles and two national tournament appearances, including a third-place finish in '98. Noonan resigned from SCI to devote more time to his family and his job as a financial adviser, which he's been since 1990."

"After being out of the game as a coach for five years, I was beginning to get the itch again," Tom Noonan says. "This is a great opportunity, and I wouldn't have taken this job if I didn't think I could do something with the program. Of course we want to win, but I want to work with the kids and help them get through junior college and onto the next level, whether they play or just attend. I've always enjoyed working with the student-athlete. I'm excited and I'm rarin' to go."

A psychology major at DePauw, Noonan lettered all four years as a soccer player for the Tigers. At Springfield College he coached five All-Americans in his five years as coach.
