June 28, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - An article in Indiana's Gary Post-Tribune notes the upcoming, third annual Kellen Mogck Memorial Golf Outing. which will take place July 31 in Valparaiso. "Mogck, a star athlete and good student at Valparaiso [High School], died in a 2004 automobile accident returning from his ROTC class during his freshman year at DePauw University," notes the newspaper. "Mogck’s family has created an annual scholarship program for deserving high school seniors who emulate Kellen’s qualities of scholarship, athletic success andplans to attend a competitive university. Proceeds from the outing fund the scholarship program."

"This scholarship is a wonderful way to remember Kellen and honor his memory because he was a giving, loving son, athlete, and student," says Kellen’s father, Doug. "His short life was so meaningful to so many people and this is our way of perpetuating his memory and the high standards he believed in."
