Senior Elected to National Post in College Democrats of America

July 27, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - At the 2006 College Democrats of America national convention, DePauw University senior Elisabeth W. "Bess" Evans was elected national council chair. The convention, held July 20-23 at St. Louis University, brought together approximately 400 students from across the nation. Speakers included party chairman Howard Dean, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), and retired Gen. Wesley Clark.
Bess Evans, a Media Fellow at DePauw, has served as vice president of College Democrats of Indiana for the past two and a half years and has interned with Senator Evan Bayh (D-Ind.). She is currently in Washington, D.C. serving as the external affairs intern for the Center for Community Change.
College Democrats of America is the official college outreach arm of the Democratic Party and focuses on electing Democrats from the grassroots level up. The organization was founded in 1932 to bolster the presidential campaign of Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
