Kelly Writers Series Presents Prof. Eugene Gloria September 13

eugene gloria hoodlum birds.jpgAugust 16, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - On Wednesday, September 13, the James and Marilou Kelly Writers Series presents award-winning poet Eugene Gloria, associate professor of English and Richard W. Peck Chair in Creative Writing at DePauw University. The reading will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center's Thompson Recital Hall. Free of charge, the event is open to all.

Hoodlum Birds, a collection of poems by Professor Gloria, was released in March by Penguin Books. Gloria's first book of poetry, Drivers at the Short-Time Motel, won the Asianeugene gloria.jpg American Literary Award in 2001. It was also selected for the 1999 National Poetry Series and was published by Penguin Books. Gloria also won an annual "Readers' Choice Award" from Prairie Schooner, the literary quarterly magazine.
