DePauw Band Fall 2005.jpgSeptember 13, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw University Band will give Family Weekend guests a musical send-off this Sunday afternoon with a free concert in the Performing Arts Center's Kresge Auditorium. The performance, the Band's first of the new academic year, will begin at 1 p.m.

Sunday's program includes a variety of pieces, including “March Hongroise, Rakoczy” by Hector Berlioz, "Festivo" by Edward Gregson, "Manhattan Beach" by John Philip Sousa, a wind transcription of the choral work "Contre, qui, rose" by Morten Lauridsen, and "Canzona" by Peter Mennin.

Those who cannot attend the concert in person can hear it live via student radio station WGRE, either by tuning in to 91.5 FM or by clicking here to listen via the Internet. The station will be broadcasting all of the DePauw University Band's performances this year.

The next concert, November 19, will feature Anne Reynolds, professor of flute, who will perform Stephen Bulla's "Rhapsody for Flute."

The DePauw University Band will release its sixth compact disc, Brooklyn Bridge, this fall.  Recorded in April 2006 under the direction of Craig Paré, the disc is due to be released this fall.
