Prof. Emeritus James Cooper Works to Get National Historic Recognition for Bridge

October 25, 2006

October 25, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - An item in Bedford, Indiana's Times-Mail on the work of the local Historic Review Committee notes, "James Cooper, professor emeritus at DePauw University, has agreed to assist the committee with nominating the iron bridge near Otis Park for the National Register of Historic Places. If successful, the bridge would become the second in the county to attain such a status -- behind the Williams Covered Bridge."

The "Everybody's Talkin'" column by Jason Mullis continues, "Cooper has written a couple of books about historic bridges, and shares the same passion as those on our local historic review committee. He’ll surely prove an asset when it comes to securing the old bridge as a local treasure."
