Chamber Singers Present 'Herbst Lieder' Thursday Night
November 13, 2006November 13, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - Under the direction of Gabriel Crouch, the DePauw University Chamber singers will explore the great choral music by Brahms, Bruckner, Durufle and Lauridsen this Thursday, November 16. “Herbst Lieder,” or autumn songs, is the theme for the 7:30 p.m. performance, which is free and open to the public.
“The music in this program draws together the great choral music of two German Romantic heavyweights, Bruckner and Brahms, with two miniature gems by the French organist/composer Maurice Durufle, and a modern-day classic by the American Morten Lauridsen,” explains Professor Crouch. In addition to three songs by Brahms, Two Gradual Motets by Bruckner, and Two Motets on Gregorian Themes by Durufle will be featured. The concert will conclude with O Magnum Mysterium by Lauridsen.
