DePauw tops Saints; improves to 6-1

December 8, 2006, St. Louis, Mo. - DePauw improved to 6-1 with its fifth straight win in a 68-50 victory at Maryville. The Saints dropped to 1-5 with the loss.
The Tigers scored the games first eight points in the opening three minutes and eventually extended the lead to 19 on three occasions. Maryville battle back to within seven at 34-27, but DePauw closed the first half by scoring the final eight points and led 42-27 at the break. The Saints got no closer than 15 in the second half, while the Tigers' largest lead reached 24.
Mike Moore paced DePauw with 16 followed by Matt McDonald with 13, Austin Brown with 12 and Stephen Schott with 10. Schott and McDonald posted career high rebound totals with 15 and 10, respectively as DePauw held a 45-36 advantage on the boards.
Jaren McCoy and Tyler Saxton each scored 10 points for Maryville, while Teddy McGrath grabbed five rebounds.
The Tigers shot 51.7 percent in the first half, while holding the Saints to just 33.3 percent for the contest.
DePauw hosts Illinois Institute of Technology on Sunday, December 17.
