George Rehnquist.jpgDecember 14, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - George R. Rehnquist, a retired attorney and 1964 graduate of DePauw University, "has been appointed as the new chairman of the Vincennes University Foundation Board, notes the Daily Clarion of Princeton, Indiana. "Rehnquist, a member of the VU Foundation board since 1998, takes over the helm of the board from Bernie Niehaus, of Vincennes, who had served as chair since 2005."

Rehnquist says, "I am excited about becoming the chair, primarily because I very much believe in this university and strongly believe that it needs to be supported by scholarships, and that is our primary goal."

"Having known and worked with George for 10 years in the public policy area, the VU Foundation is getting a strong leader who has been intricately involved in the economic development of Southwest Indiana," adds Bumper Hostettler, president of the VU Foundation. "The Foundation Board and staff look forward to his positive vision for helping us meet the educational mission of Vincennnes University."

The text continues, "Born in Chicago, Rehnquist earned his bachelor's degree from DePauw University and a law degree in the Indiana University School of Law... In addition to his new position, Rehnquist was also recently named as interim executive director of the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana, and serves in different capacities on a variety of local boards and committees."
