Fifth-ranked Tigers win sixth straight

December 16, 2006, Springfield, Ohio - DePauw, ranked fifth by D3hoops.com and sixth in the USA Today/ESPN Division III Coaches' poll, improved to 7-1 on the season and picked up its sixth straight victory in an 82-60 win at Wittenberg. Wittenberg dropped to 3-4 with the loss.
Wittenberg took a 15-9 lead eight minutes into the contest, but DePauw closed the half with a 35-8 run to take a 44-23 lead into the intermission. The Tigers extended that lead to as many as 29 in the second half on the way to the victory.
Emily Marshall paced the Tigers with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Meghan Warner added 12 points and Caitlin McGonigal followed with 11.
Suzy Doughty paced the Tigers with nine assists and surpassed Susan Bender's (1995-99) DePauw career mark of 354. Doughty's total now stands at 360. Doughty also recorded two steals to move her career total to 220 which is one shy of the career mark of 221 set by Marlene McQueary (1985-89).
Kathy Hittle paced Wittenberg with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
DePauw shot just under 54 percent from the floor, while Wittenberg connected on just under 43 percent. DePauw also held a 38-26 edge on the boards.
The Tigers return to action on December 20 when they travel to Webster.Back
