Author Cathy Day '91 to Appear at Pittsburgh's Gist Street Reading Series Friday

January 3, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Cathy Day, the critically acclaimed author and 1991 graduate of DePauw University, will appear Friday as part of Pittsburgh's Gist Street Reading Series, that city's Post-Gazette reports. "Day is author of The Circus in Winter (2004) and teaches writing at the University of Pittsburgh," notes the newspaper. She will appear with Susanne Childress, winner of the 2005 Brittingham Poetry Prize.
The article advises, "Space at 305 Gist St., Uptown, is always tight, so plan to get there at 7:30 p.m. for the 8 p.m. reading. Cost is $5 at the door."

The Circus in Winter, Day's first book, appeared on at least two "Best of 2004" lists and received praise in numerous media outlets -- including the New York Times, Newsday, MSNBC.com and Sports Illustrated -- and was one of three finalists for the Story Prize. The author began working on the book while she was a student at DePauw.
