Historic Review Board Seeks Prof. James Cooper's Assistance in Preserving Bridge
January 23, 2007
January 23, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - "We’ve been in touch with James L. Cooper," Eleanor Himebaugh, vice chairwoman of the Bedford, Indiana Historic Review Board, is quoted in the Bedford Times-Mail. "He is well known around the state of Indiana," Himebaugh told her colleagues as she "updated the group on their primary project of coordinating the preservation of the metal bridge near the entrance to Otis Park." The story by Jason Mullis continues, "Cooper is a professor emeritus [of history] at DePauw University, and has won awards for his work on preserving historic bridges."
Dr. Cooper will visit the Lawrence County courthouse Thursday, according to the newspaper, and has "agreed to help the Historic Review Board in its efforts to write grant applications, and in other areas regarding the bridge near Otis... Eventually, the board hopes to have the bridge listed among a national registry of historic bridges."
