Hertel named Lineman of the Year; Marks also an all-American

hertelaction05.jpgJanuary 29, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Senior defensive end Dustin Hertel earned Don Hansen Football Gazette First Team All-America honors and was tabbed by the publication as Division III's Defensive Lineman of the Year. The complete team is available here.

The Football Gazette South Region Defensive Player of the Year and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Hertel set a school and SCAC single-season record with 27.5 tackles for loss and tied the conference and DePauw single-season sack record with 16. He ranked second in Division III in tackles for loss, third in sacks and fourth with 0.5 forced fumbles per game.

Junior running back Jeremiah Marks earned honorable mention all-America honors after garnering first team all-region honors and a third consecutive first team all-SCAC designation. Marks set a single-season school record this season with 1,117 rushing yards.
