February 7, 2007
February 7, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Approximately 150 DePauw student musicians and faculty members will bring music to alumni in the Atlanta area in an unprecedented program planned for Saturday, March 17. The event will not only showcase the musical talent of DePauw students but also provide an opportunity for Atlanta-area alumni to enjoy an extraordinary DePauw concert in their own community.
The DePauw School of Music and Office of Alumni Relations have teamed up to take the road trip with the DePauw University Band, DePauw Symphony Orchestra, DePauw Jazz Ensemble, DePauw Chamber Singers and DePauw Percussion Ensemble, which made a successful concert tour of Central Europe during Winter Term in January. The program, titled "From the American Heart," will feature each ensemble performing a set of 10-15 minutes. The DePauw Chamber Players (May phang, piano, Dan Rizner, violin, and Eric Edberg, cello) will also be featured in this "prism" formatted concert, that will allow the spotlight to pass seamlessly from one ensemble to the next.
The special concert is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Woodruff Arts Center, Symphony Hall. It will be followed by a reception beginning at 6 p.m. at the High Museum of Art at which entertainment will be provided by the DePauw Jazz Ensemble.
Cost for the event is $100 per person, including the concert, reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres, cash bar and admission to the Louvre Atlanta exhibit. There is a special price of $75 for Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) alumni.
