Phantom of the Opera, Featuring David Cryer '58, Celebrates 19 Years On Broadway

David Cryer - Firmin.jpgFebruary 16, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - David Cryer, who portrays Monsieur Firmin in the Broadway production of Phantom of the Opera and is a 1958 graduate of DePauw University, got his cake and was able to eat it, too. Cryer and other cast members celebrated backstage on January 25, one day before the hit musical turned 19 years old at the Majestic Theatre.

The winner of seven Tony Awards, Phantom of the Opera became the longest-running show in Broadway history on January 9, 2006. The performance on January 26, 2007 marked number 7,923 on Broadway.Phantom 19th Cake.jpg
