Tigers complete series sweep; improve to 27-3

April 15, 2007, Memphis, Tenn. - DePauw improved to 27-3 overall and 7-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference after winning both ends of a doubleheader at Rhodes. The Tigers won the first game, 14-1, and took the nightcap by an 11-0 score. Rhodes dropped to 19-13 overall and 4-4 in the SCAC.
DePauw jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning of the opening game on an RBI double by Kaitlyn Davitt and a two-run double by Carolyn Bartlett. The Tigers added seven in the second and two in the third before the Lynx scored their lone run in the third. DePauw added two more in the fifth.
Davitt, Lauren Rees each had three of DePauw's 16, while Jessica Krueger, Rachel Gill, CArolyn Bartlett and Jessia Bowlds each added two. Cianna Pender and Dana Bartolomei had the Lynx's hits.Katherine Veatch improved to 5-1 with the win while Rachel Austin dropped to 5-4.
In the nightcap, Megan Soultz scattered four hits over five innings and improved to 12-2. Bartolomei dropped to 9-4 with the loss. Kristy Mahon banged out three hits, while Chelsy Patterson and Rees added two. Rees drove in four including three with a three-run homer in the fourth. Four different Lynx finished with one hit each.
DePauw travels to Sewanee on Saturday, April 21 for a four-game series.
