May 4, 2007

TGL 2006.jpgMay 4, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - TGL, a four-member band that includes DePauw University students Will Cath (drums) and John Sibbitt (guitar and vocals), has reached the finals of mtvU's "Artist of the Year" competition. The winner, determined by online voting, receives a recording deal from Epic Records worth up to $1.5 million. TGL is one of five survivors remaining in a contest that began with 50 competitors.

"Voting for the winning band continues this week until 5 p.m. Saturday," reports Greencastle's Banner-Graphic. Cast a vote for TGL and hear clips of the band by clicking here.

"It's kind of surreal, to be honest," Cath tells The DePauw. "We obviously didn't expect to make it this far."

"I really don't know who's voting anymore," adds Sibbitt, TGL Band.jpgthe band's lead singer. "It's definitely taken off. Lately it's been a lot of DePauw support, which has been really nice."

TGL plans to tour once the school year ends and "will take part in the Hype Energy 2007 Tour through July, which will include artists Asteria and Bear Hug Jersey, among other bands," writes the Banner-Graphic's Jason Moon.
