EA Casual Entertainment Chief Kathy Vrabeck '85 Foresees Fast Growth in Genre

July 12, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - "We want to be the clear leader in casual games," says Kathy Vrabeck, president of EA Casual Entertainment, a newly-formed subsidiary of Electronic Arts. "It will be the fastest-growing area of the company." Vrabeck, a 1985 graduate of DePauw University, is quoted in a Los Angeles Times story today which previews the E3 Media & Business Summit in Santa Monica.

The Times reports, "EA, which has built its business on game franchises such as Medal of Honor that appeal to hard-core players, struck a different note this year by highlighting its casual games, which the industry views as bargain-bin gamesElectronic Arts EA Logo.jpgbecause they're usually sold for little money or given away free. But EA, like Disney, sees opportunity in casual and kids' games."
