January 8, 1971, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw University's dean and his wife, Dr. and Mrs. Robert H. Farber, were treated to a silver wedding anniversary celebration this evening at the home of DePauw's president and first lady. The Farbers enjoyed a reception at the home of Dr. and Mrs. William F. Kerstetter, which was attended by more than 200 members of the University's faculty and administration.
The photo accompanying this story shows Bob and Edna Farber cutting their 25th anniversary cake, flanked by their daughter Jean, an elementary school teacher in Bloomington, Indiana, and Charles, a student at Indiana University.
The Farbers were also given a silver service by members of the University community.
Dr. Farber has been a member of the University administration continuously -- except for military service -- since 1937 when he became secretary of admissions and assistant dean of the Rector Scholarship Foundation. He became assistant dean of students and director of placement in 1947, and in 1952 was named academic dean. In 1962-63 he also served as DePauw's chief administrative officer following the death of President Russell Humbert.Back
