Research of DePauw Students and Faculty to be Presented at National Geological Conference

September 17, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - The research of three DePauw University students and one faculty member will be highlighted at the 119th annual meeting of the Geological Society of America. The event will take place in Philadelphia, October 27 - 31, at the Colorado Convention Center. Approximately 6,300 geoscientists are expected to attend. Among the presentations they will hear will be two by DePauw students.
Ben Gibson, a DePauw senior, will present a project he worked on with junior Allison Barnes and Tim D. Cope, assistant professor of geosciences. Their work is titled, "Mesozoic Structural Evolution of the Yanshan Fold-Thrust Belt, Northeast China."
The second presentation, by DePauw senior Lauren A. Weir, is on "The Lung as an Air Sampler." Weir collaborated with two University of Idaho professors -- Mickey E. Gunter and Thomas J. Williams -- on the work.Back
