DePauw Choirs to Perform Sunday Afternoon Concert
October 5, 2007October 5, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw University Choirs present their first concert of the 2007-08 academic year this Sunday, October 7, in the Great Hall of the Judson and Joyce Green Center for the Performing Arts. The 3 p.m. program, which is free and open to all, will feature the DePauw University Chorus, DePauw Chamber Singers, and a pair of vocal chamber music groups known as Voices of the Muse.
The performance, titled "Queen of Heaven" will feature works by Peter Phillips, Robert Parsons, Giles Swayne, William Byrd, Thomas Tomkins, Edvard Grieg, Benjamin Britten, John Tavener, and Henryk Gorecki. Each group will perform individually, and the concert will conclude with three combined choir works.
This concert marks the beginning of a busy year for the DePauw Choirs. They are currently preparing the final movement of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 to be performed during the dedication of the Green Center for the Performing Arts, and the DePauw Chamber Singers are looking forward to a concert tour in China during Winter Term.
