Tigers Top Transylvania; Win Sixth Straight

October 7, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the way to a 5-2 win over visiting Transylvania. The Tigers improved to 8-4 with their sixth straight win, while the Pioneers dropped to 2-9.
Katie Sowar scored 10 minutes into the contest before Sarah Riffle scored with eight seconds left in the first half on Brooke Hollingsworth's assist. Jackie Smith made it 3-0 on an assist from Ashley Fehr at 44:49.
Transylvania reached the scoreboard at 53:56 on Maria Taustine's unassisted goal before Riffle responded with her second goal less than three minutes later on Carolyn Mueller's assist.
The Pioneers closed the gap to 4-2 on Meaghan Linkers unassisted goal at 67:29 before DePauw closed the scoring with 32 seconds remaining on Beth Seegers' goal.
The Tigers outshot Transylvania 20-5 and held a 20-6 edge in penalty corners. liz Attewell recrded three saves for the Tigers, while Megan Blandford had 11 for Transylvania.
DePauw travels to Rhodes on Friday for an SCAC contest.Back
