Poet Barbara Ras to Present October 29 Reading

Barbara Ras.jpgOctober 13, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Author & poet Barbara Ras, whose Bite Every Sorrow won the Walt Whitman Award and the Kate Tufts Discovery Award, will come to DePauw University on Monday, October 29, as a guest of the James and Marilou Kelly Writers Series. Ras will present a 7:30 p.m. reading in the auditorium of DePauw's Richard E. Peeler Art Center. The event, which is presented as part of DePauw's ArtsFest, is free and open to all.

Ras also authored One Hidden Stuff, and her work has appeared in many magazines and anthologies, including the New Yorker, Gulf Coast, and Massachusetts Review. She also edited an ArtsFest 2007.jpganthology of Costa Rican fiction in translation, Costa Rica: A Traveler's Literary Companion, and directs Trinity University Press in San Antonio.

Barbara Ras has also received the Ascher Montandon Award and honors from the National Writers Union, Villa Montalvo, San Jose Poetry Center, and Spoon River Poetry Review.
