Undergraduates and Area Children Will Interact at Annual 'Art Attack' Sunday

October 31, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Children of all ages are invited to experience art and the environment at "Art Attack," DePauw University's annual art experience for children. The Sunday, November 4 event from 12:30 to 4 p.m. in the Judson and Joyce Green Center for the Performing Arts is the culminating activity of DePauw's 11-day arts celebration, ArtsFest 2007: Art & the Environment.
Art Attack promises to be an exciting afternoon of performances, workshops and hands-on art activities. In its sixth year, this popular event for the Putnam County/Greencastle communities is an opportunity for DePauw students to share their artistic knowledge and passions with area children. The event is free and open to all.
The recently dedicated Green Center for the Performing Arts will be lively with activity as the DePauw Symphony Orchestra, the DePauw Opera Theatre, and many other student organizations, honorary societies, sororities, fraternities, and talented individuals gather to host the fun-filled afternoon. Hands-on crafts will be offered throughout the afternoon including mask making, giant paint-by-number, paper cranes for peace, egg carton insects, make-your-own instrument, and an environmental sculpture activity,
Attendees will be invited to performances beginning at 1 p.m. offered by belly dance troupe Sahara Moon, the singers of DePauw Capella, the DePauw Gospel Choir, the DePauw Pep Band, the DePauw Theatre troupe unIMPROVable, and the DePauw Orchestra. Also planned are a poetry workshop, a participatory drum circle, and the ever-popular musical petting zoo. DePauw's student radio station, WGRE, will be broadcasting from the event offering opportunities for visitors to "be on the radio."
