Late Goal Sends Tigers to Defeat in Cotton's Final Game

cottons1103.jpgNovember 3, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - In what was the final regular season game in the 39-year coaching career of DePauw head coach Page Cotton, the Tigers dropped a 1-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference decision to visiting Centre.

The Colonels' Matt Corbett broke the scoreless tie at 81:09 and lifted Centre to the win. DePauw dropped to 12-5-1 overall and 7-3 in the SCAC, while Centre improved to 14-4-1 overall and 7-3 in the conference.

Centre outshot the Tigers 10-6 and held a 4-1 edge in corners. DePauw's John Fenley totaled six saves in goal, while Centre's Chris Creger finished with two in earning the shutout.

Prior to the game, DePauw President Robert Bottoms recognized Page and Narda for all they've done for DePauw. President Bottoms presented them with a framed photo of Page and his son who played for the Tigers and graduated in 2005. Cotton's teams posted a 390-190-33 record in his 39 seasons.
