Defending National Champs Open Season with 96-63 Triumph

November 17, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Illinois Wesleyan University "faces No. 2-ranked DePauw in today’s championship game" of the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Tipoff Tournament, reports Illinois' Bloomington Pantagraph. The 2006-07 national champions of NCAA Division III women's basketball, "DePauw beat Olivet (Mich.), 96-63, in Friday’s second game." The story reports that IWU knocked off Washington (Mo.) 69-51. "Washington was last year’s Division III national runner-up and ranked No. 1 in the USA Today/ESPN preseason poll."
Gretchen Haehl (pictured) led the Tigers with 18 points. DePauw shot 54.5 percent from the floor and hit 10-of-22 three-pointers.
