TV News Anchor Ken Owen '82 Leaving Fort Wayne for North Carolina ABC Affiliate

September 16, 1987, Greencastle, Ind. - "Ken Owen, WANE-TV, Channel 15, weekday news co-anchor since October 1, 1984, "has accepted a position as weekday news co-anchor at WLOS-TV, Asheville, North Carolina," reports today's Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette. "His last newscast for WANE will be Oct. 9," adds the report on the 1982 graduate of DePauw University.
"It's a jump of 64 markets (from Fort Wayne) and it bodes well for my career," Owen tells the newspaper. "I will miss the Midwest, and for the rest of my life there will be a warm spot in my heart for Fort Wayne," he added.
WLOS is an ABC affiliate, while WANE is linked with the CBS network.
Owen -- who was a communication major and Rector Scholar at DePauw and managed student radio station WGRE -- came to WANE after anchoring the news at Indianapolis upstart WPDS (Channel 59). He previously worked for Indianapolis radio stations WIBC and WIRE.Back
