Bob Franks '73 Engages in Literacy Program Outreach

Bob-Franks.jpgDecember 10, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - "HealthCare Institute of New Jersey President Bob Franks will hand out 1,000 books to children and staff at both the Toms River and Lakewood sites of Ocean Health Initiatives on Monday as part of the 'Reach Out and Read' medically based literacy program," reports New Jersey's Asbury Park Press. Franks, a 1973 graduate of DePauw University, served four terms in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The newspaper item adds, "ROR's aim is to promote literacy as a standard part of pediatric primary care for children. Doctors and nurses are trained to advise parents about the importance of reading aloud to their children."
