Solid Second-Half Leads Seventh-Ranked Tigers to Win

December 17, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - The seventh-ranked Tigers scored 12 straight over a 2:29 stretch of the second half which started a 23-5 run and propelled DePauw to a 92-69 win over visiting Wittenberg.

DePauw improved to 6-1 with its 16th straight home win and 35th consecutive regular season home victory. Wittenberg dropped to 2-2.

DePauw took a 39-37 lead into halftime before Wittenberg took as much as a three-point advantage early in the second half. The teams were tied at 53-53 after Wittenberg's Rachel Kohlruss hit a jumper with 14:16 left before DePauw scored the next 12.

Jenna Fernandez started the run with a three-point play before Katie Mathews followed with a bucket and Cassie Pruzin added a three-point play. Emily Marshall's basket and Pruzin's two free throws with 11:47 left made it 65-53.

Wittenberg's Katie Gregorevich ended the string with a three, but the Tigers pulled away with an 11-2 run capped by Marshall's layup with 8:40 left which made it 76-58.

DePauw shot 59 percent in the second half and committed just three turnovers over the final 20 minutes as it outscored the visiting Tigers by a 53-32 count in the second half.

All five DePauw starters scored in double figures led by Pruzin, Gretchen Haehl and Marshall with 14 each. Fernandez added 13, while Kalei Lowes scored 11. Haehl dished out a career-high nine assists, while Pruzin finished with six. Pruzin added nine rebounds and five steals as DePauw held a 48-35 advantage on the boards.

Gregorevich led all scorers with 24, while Kohlruss grabbed seven rebounds. Katherine Hueter dished out five assists and Kohlruss blocked three shots. Wittenberg shot 50 percent in the first half, but just 37.5 over the final 20 minutes.

DePauw travels to Cancun, Mexico, for the Caribbean Hoops Showdown where they'll face King's and Messiah this Thursday and Friday, respectively.
