Prof. Bob Calvert to Address Southern Political Science Association's Conference

robert calvert.jpgJanuary 6, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Robert E. Calvert, professor emeritus of political science at DePauw University, will participate in a panel discussion at the 79th annual conference of the Southern Political Science Association. At the event, which takes place January 10-12 in New Orleans, Dr. Calvert will be a discussant in a session on "Political Bias in American Universities?"

The program will discuss a new, national survey of faculty political attitudes by Bruce L.R. Smith, Jeremy D. Mayer and A. Lee Fritschler, all of the George Mason University School of Public Policy.

Bob Calvert discussed "The Inescapable Civic ectower duskEmbeddedness of the Long Distance Learner: Challenges, Obligations, and Opportunities" in a 2006 speech. His remarks continued the theme of To Restore American Democracy: Political Education and the Modern University, a national symposium held at DePauw in 2003 that was organized by Dr. Calvert and resulted in a book which he edited.
