DePauw Rallies for 20th Straight Home Win

January 4, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Sewanee jumped out to an 11-0 lead, but DePauw closed the halftime gap to one and then scored the first 12 points of the second half and claimed an 80-63 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory.
DePauw improved to 9-2 overall and 1-1 in the SCAC with its 20th straight home win, while Sewanee dropped to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
James Pryor opened the game with a three-pointer before Gary Grizzle followed with a layup and Pryor knocked down another trey. Bradley Pierson's three with 17:28 left made it 11-0.
The Sewanee lead reached 12 at 28-16 before DePauw scored 10 straight beginning with three-pointers by Tony James and Tom Callen. Mike Moore's three-pointer with 10 seconds left made it 34-33 at the break.
Steve Lemasters put the Tigers ahead for good with a three-pointer in the opening minute of the second half before Stephen Schott followed with a couple of layups. Moore nailed a three and Tom Callen's layup pushed the DePauw lead to 45-34 with 16:54 left. The Tigers led by as many as 21 at 76-55.
Moore led DePauw with 21 points and five assists, while Brian Oilar added 13 points and seven rebounds. Schott posted a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds as DePauw held a 35-31 edge on the boards.
Casey Berry led Sewanee with 14 points and Ben Pursell had a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds. Pierson followed with 11 points and Grizzle had five steals.
DePauw shot 50.8 percent from the floor including 63.3 percent in the second half, while Sewanee hit 38.8 percent for the game.
The Tigers host Oglethorpe on Sunday at 2 p.m., while Sewanee travels to Centre.
