Pat Aikman '57 to Coordinate Special Projects for Indiana Basketball Coaches Association

Patrick Aikman, a 1957 graduate of DePauw University, has been named special projects coordinator for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association, reports the Times of Northwest Indiana. "Aikman was director of public relations at DePauw University before joining the Indianapolis Star as promotion coordinator in 1988. He also headed the Star's Indiana High School All-Star event which raised more than $3 million for charity since its inception," notes the report.

"The IBCA is pleased that Pat has agreed to come on board," says the organization's executive director, Steve Witty. "His expertise and wealth of knowledge will be a valuable asset to our organization as the IBCA continues to grow and prosper." Basketball 77.jpg

Another article in the Star states that Aikman "will work to secure corporate and individual sponsorships for the 2,500-member IBCA, which serves boys and girls basketball coaches throughout the state. He also is charged with developing new programs and events for the organization to consider as well as securing support for the group's scholarship program that awards grants to 40 students each year."

Pat Aikman is among fifteeen men who are 2008 inductees into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, and will receive the St. Vincent Silver Medal at the March 19 induction dinner. Jim Callane, a 1964 graduate of DePauw, is also among the Hall's new members. Learn more in this previous story.
